Our Vision
Our vision is that SugarStat will be the go-to platform for individuals, care workers, and physicians seeking to manage diabetes and upload blood sugar level data in Bermuda. By providing a comprehensive solution that is easy to use and accessible to everyone, we hope to help individuals manage their A1c levels and reduce the prevalence of diabetes in Bermuda.
Furthermore, we aim to support local healthcare providers and their patients by enabling physicians to access their patients' blood glucose logs data through our platform. By streamlining the data-sharing process, we hope to improve communication between patients and their care teams, leading to more effective treatment and management of diabetes.
Our Story
At SugarStat, our mission is to make a positive impact on the high rate of diabetes in Bermuda. Currently, 13% of the population of 65,000 people in Bermuda has diabetes, a rate that is more than twice the level of the OECD average and exceeds the prevalence in all OECD countries. This alarming statistic highlights the urgent need for innovative solutions to help people manage their diabetes and prevent the disease from spreading further.
Our company was founded in response to this pressing public health challenge, with the goal of providing a user-friendly platform for individuals, care workers, and physicians to manage diabetes and upload their blood sugar level data. Our app aims to empower individuals to take control of their health by providing them with the tools and resources they need to manage their diabetes effectively. By collecting and analyzing data from our users, we can also gain insights into the factors that contribute to diabetes in Bermuda and develop more targeted public health interventions to address this issue.
Technology
At SugarStat, we understand that managing diabetes can be a daunting task, which is why we have developed an easy-to-use mobile application to help users monitor their blood sugar levels with ease. Our user-friendly platform allows users to register and start using SugarStat within minutes of signing up. The application is designed with simplicity and convenience in mind, making it accessible to individuals of all ages and backgrounds.
In addition, we recognize the importance of secure data-sharing between patients and healthcare providers. Physicians can only access their patients' blood glucose logs data through our platform if the SugarStat user registers the physician as a requestor during the registration process. This ensures that patient data is kept secure and private, while also providing healthcare providers with the information they need to deliver effective care.
To further enhance our technology, we are continuously investing in the development of new features and updates to meet the evolving needs of our users. Our team is constantly seeking feedback from our users to identify areas for improvement and innovation, enabling us to stay ahead of the curve in the diabetes management space.
In addition to our mobile application, we are also exploring other technologies such as wearable devices and remote monitoring systems to improve the accuracy and convenience of blood glucose level monitoring. By embracing new and emerging technologies, we hope to continue to improve the lives of people with diabetes and make a positive impact on the public health landscape in Bermuda.
what is your a1c
The A1C test—also known as the hemoglobin A1C or HbA1c test—is a simple blood test that measures your average blood sugar levels over the past 3 months. It's one of the commonly used tests to diagnose prediabetes and diabetes and is also the main test to help you and your health care team manage your diabetes.
what is your eag
Estimated average glucose (eAG) is an estimated average of your blood sugar (glucose) levels over a period of 2 to 3 months. It is based on your A1C blood test results. Knowing your eAG helps you predict your blood sugar levels over time. It shows how well you are controlling your diabetes.
Reading the A1c to eAG Conversion Table
This table provides an approximate conversion from A1c levels (presented as a percentage) to estimated average glucose (eAG) levels (expressed in mg/dl).
1. Identify the A1c level in the first column. This is a measure of your average blood sugar level over the past 2-3 months.
2. Find the corresponding eAG level. in the second column. This provides an estimated average of your blood glucose level.
For instance, if you find an A1c level of 7% in the first column, follow that row across to find the corresponding eAG level, which is approximately 154 mg/dl. Bear in mind, these are general estimates and individual results can vary due to various factors, including diet, exercise, and medication. Always consult a healthcare professional for precise and personalized information. A comprehensive approach is key for effective diabetes management.
